Superintendent's Message
 

The Nadaburg Unified School District welcomes new Superintendent Dr. Aspasia Angelou. Dr. Angelou comes to us with 19 years of educational experience as a teacher, teacher trainer, high school principal, and director of high school design. She has spent the first weeks meeting the NUSD staff and familiarizing herself with our schools and community.

Dr. Angelou looks forward to being a part of the Nadaburg Unified School District. As your students return to classes, you will no doubt be seeing Dr. Angelou visiting both campuses, classrooms and generally visible in the community. Please feel free to introduce yourself and help us welcome her to the District.

Short Bio:

Aspasia Angelou is the daughter of immigrant parents and a native of Seattle, Washington, where she graduated from the University of Washington. She moved to Texas as an educator and teacher trainer in advanced placement, and then Oklahoma as a school administrator for 8 years. Dr. Angelou served the students, teachers, and community of Tulsa Public Schools as director of high school design in 2019, leading 4 schools through a redesign project. She is passionate about creating equitable learning environments, opportunities, and outcomes for all students. Her entire career has been committed to serving in Title I urban schools. She was named Oklahoma High School Principal of the Year in 2017 for the academic gains made by her students during her tenure in Oklahoma City. Despite challenges, they made great gains are recognized as a Model Professional Learning Community School by Solution Tree.
Dr. Angelou was awarded the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Scholarship to attend the 2017 Women Leading Education International conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 2018, Dr. Angelou had the opportunity to visit innovative schools in China and collaborate with the Ministry of Education to increase STEM programming. 
Dr. Angelou received her doctoral degree in educational administration and leadership from Texas A&M University at Commerce, her master’s degree in educational administration from Texas Woman’s University, and holds her superintendent’s certification through the University of Oklahoma. Additionally, Dr. Angelou completed a fourteen-month certification with the National Institute of School Leadership (NISL) in Washington, DC, and trains school administrators on effective instructional and operational leadership. Dr. Angelou is proud to serve the community in Wittmann, Arizona, as Superintendent of Nadaburg Unified School District No. 81. 
 

 

The Superintendent's Office is responsible for the governing board meeting process, media relations, public records requests and district-wide communications.
